Sharedien Release 3.19
by Michael Degiampietro
The current Sharedien release 3.19 includes several important updates and improvements that enable users to use the software more individually and efficiently.
Selective navigation and faster access to relevant information
Add / remove filter
Admins now have the capability to customize the search experience by configuring which facets are displayed, adding or removing them as needed. Facets enhance the search process by allowing users to filter and sort through data, thereby accelerating the discovery of pertinent information and improving the overall user experience.
Individual configuration per browser
Administrators now have the flexibility to tailor facet settings for various browser types, such as asset, entity, category, collection, or workspace browsers. By assigning specific facet filters to each browser type, administrators can better accommodate the unique needs and preferences of users, allowing for more precise and user-friendly navigation.
Advanced sorting options in the Gallery view
In Gallery view, users have the new ability to organize assets by selecting from any metadata characteristic. This improvement offers increased adaptability and streamlines the process of searching and arranging assets. It allows users to tailor the display using a wide range of metadata options to pinpoint the precise assets they need.
Improved removal of assets from categories
The process for deleting assets from categories has been enhanced and streamlined. Users can now efficiently search for particular links among a vast array of asset connections. Additionally, a new paging feature has been introduced to facilitate easier navigation.
New data type «Date Range» and flexible metadata configuration in the Admin UI
The introduction of the «Date Range» data type is especially beneficial in situations where the precise recording dates of assets are unavailable. This functionality enables users to define periods of time, such as:
- For an asset that was recorded in November 1950, the period from November 1, 1950 to November 30, 1950 can be set.
- If an asset was acquired in 1950, the period from January 1, 1950 to December 31, 1950 can be defined.
- For assets recorded between 1950 and 1960, the period from January 1, 1950 to December 31, 1960 can be specified.
Furthermore, this update introduces the ability for administrators to adjust EXIF, XMP, and IPTC mappings through the admin user interface. This provides administrators with enhanced flexibility and oversight in managing metadata, consequently optimizing both data maintenance and utilization.
Conclusion
To sum up, this update delivers notable enhancements in terms of customization, user-friendliness, and productivity. Users are empowered to tailor their experiences to better suit their individual requirements, leading to a streamlined and enhanced process for searching and organizing assets.
