Focal Point Setter

Use Case

For a product campaign, you have large product images that you want to use in various channels such as social media, websites and print media. You want to ensure that the most important part of the image is retained in all formats and application areas. Without a defined focal point, there is a risk that important image sections such as faces, products or logos will be cut off when cropping to the desired format.

With the «Focal Point Setter» extension, you can set the desired focal point that defines the centre of the image when cropping. This ensures that the important area remains centrally positioned and clearly visible in all download formats (derivatives) as well as when used in other systems and for various applications, such as social media posts, website banners and print adverts.

Use
  1. Click on the asset you want to edit and open the Focal Point Setter via the context menu with a right-click
  2. The image opens in a pop-up window. Set the focal point with the mouse
  3. The focal point is automatically saved in the metadata
  4. You can recognise whether a focal point has been set by the focal point symbol, which is displayed using the asset marker
